Sowing the Seed of Peace in Africa (SOSPA) is a community organization committed to promoting peace, education, socio-economic empowerment, and sustainable development in Africa.
Based in North Kivu, city of Goma, and also active in the territory of Idjwi in South Kivu, SOSPA works primarily with children, youth, vulnerable families, and rural communities.
SOSPA was born in the heart of the eastern provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo, where decades of conflict, poverty, and lack of access to education have left deep scars.
Faced with the realization that humanitarian actions were not sustainably changing the lives of communities, a new generation chose a different path. A bold path.
These young people understood that external aid alone is not enough to transform a society: true change is born when communities become actors in their own development.
Inspired by a simple but powerful wisdom — "If you give me a fish, I will eat for a day. If you teach me to fish, I will never be hungry again." — they decided to build a movement that prioritizes training, skills transfer, local solidarity, and collective autonomy.
This is how SOSPA was born, under the leadership of Father Deogratias Fikiri and a group of committed young people determined to act differently.
To sow the seeds of peace, hope, and development by providing vulnerable communities with educational, economic, and social opportunities to build a stable, peaceful, and sustainable future.
SOSPA aspires to see resilient, peaceful, educated, and autonomous African communities emerge, where every person can realize their potential to live in peace and contribute positively to society's development.
Communities are at the center: they think, decide, and act together. SOSPA revitalizes local practices of dialogue and mutual aid.
We train young people to take charge of themselves, support women in building their economic independence, and help families become resilient.
Every donation is rigorously tracked. Donors receive regular updates showing the concrete progress of the people and projects they support.
